Our new contract with Lear Corporation

The Lear Corporation are a renowned global leader in Automotive Seating & Electrical Systems. We are very proud to say, they are now also an Auto-Fasteners customer.

Our new contract is to supply Lear with fasteners to be used in the seats of the new Audi R8 Spyder. This we hope is the start of many great things to come with Lear, who we see as one of the innovators in the automotive industry and with whom we share many common values.

The R8 Spyder will be produced at the Audi factory in Neckarsulm Germany and is one of Audi’s flagship vehicles. With stunning performance and breathtakingly good looks, the R8 Spyder is due to hit the roads in autumn 2016.

The Lear Corporation will celebrate its 100th year anniversary in 2017, and now employs 135,000 people in 240 locations around 35 countries. Ranked #174 in the Fortune 500, global sales were over $18bn in 2015.

The name Lear is of course synonymous with automotive Seating, and they are one of the few fully integrated manufacturers of the entire vehicle seat. As a result they work with every major automaker throughout the world providing seating for everything from high volume to speciality applications.

Vehicle seating is a complex multifaceted product. Seats not only have to provide great usability, comfort, stylish good looks and durability, but they are an integral part of the vehicle interior design and an integral part of vehicle safety. Lear have been innovators in all these areas and today’s Lear seat designs are interlaced with developments in strength, weight saving, comfort, safety, fabric technology and of course increasingly inbuilt electric technologies and driver and passenger aids.

Lear are also one of the market leaders in automotive electrical architecture. They design and produce a wide range of electrical and electronic components including complete vehicle electrical distribution systems. They are at the forefront of emerging electrical automotive technologies like wireless, external communications and hybrid systems.

As a global business, Lear have chosen to be at the vanguard of Diversity in their supply chain, not only to reflect the supply opportunities in the 35 countries within which they operate, but also to ensure that minorities, veteran owned and women owned businesses are given equal opportunity to supply.

However, none of this comes at the cost of compromise, and Lear demand the very highest levels of product quality and service from all their suppliers.

Auto-Fasteners has worked hard to ensure we meet the Lear Corporation’s highest standards and to develop what we anticipate will be a long term mutually beneficial relationship based on shared values, trust and core values.
